What's new in Linux and Windows 10
As Heise reports, the new cumulative update for Windows 10 (KB3194496) also seems to cause serious problems for some users during the installation: A number of users remain in a reboot loop from which there is no escape. Unlike the last update (KB3189866) that caused the same issues, this time manual offline installation doesn't help. One can only hope that Microsoft will release a bug-fixed version shortly.
Those who have opted for Linux for their operating system, on the other hand, will be happy with the new kernel 4.8 that has now been released. We already talked about the most important ones last month reported new or improved features: Improved drivers, faster WLAN connection, increased security and with the "Express Data Path" (XDP) a possibility that the kernel can use to process certain network packets more quickly. In addition, the new kernel version supports an "open source processor" with SuperH-2 design, which can be used with FPGAs and is said to be patent-free.
