The Company
The ÖVSV (Austrian Experimental Transmitter Association) is a non-profit association for amateur radio operators. It is a member of the International Amateur Radio Union and is divided into several national organizations in Austria, which have their own sections on the website. The ÖVSV needed maintenance for the new OpenCMS website.
The task
The ÖVSV had company websites created by Alkacon. For this, the association was looking for a reliable OpenCMS partner for changes and improvements to the website and for the homepage support. This is more of a portal running on 11 independent pages in a CMS. A number of requirements had to be met:
- The company homepages were already online. Therefore, the live operation should not be disturbed.
- A major upgrade to the latest CMS version should be performed.
- Minor changes to the company homepages should be implemented on an ongoing basis. This includes, for example, the insertion of mouse-over effects, read more buttons, the removal of programming errors, and much more
- Creation of an archive page where all organization dates should be displayed with a feed on the homepage.
- Editors of the national organizations should not have access to the entire website, but only to relevant parts.
- The CMS should remain light and easy to update.
The solution
The solution includes state-of-the-art website maintenance with a website support contract that is fully tailored to the customer's needs. This includes:
- Ticketing system, dedicated support email address
- Flexible cost models (flat rates and hourly billing according to project phases)
- Setting up a test system on which the changes in the maintenance homepage are carried out so that ongoing operations are not disrupted
- Upgrading to the latest version of OpenCMS
- Creating the authorization system, the authorization structure and creating the user groups; the ÖVSV provided us with a matrix with access information. Based on this, we created a complex authorization system for the portal.
- Creation of a user manual for the authorization system
- Creation of a wizard for creating new pages on the portal
- Cleanup of user accounts and appointments
- Programming a filter for the news list
- Programming a page for archived appointments
- Ongoing changes, adjustments and updates
