For companies with increasingly complex business models based on networked and digitized processes, the potential damage from business interruption is particularly high. Rising numbers of challenges, most notably cyber attacks, increase the risk. In the event of damage, financial consequences and reputational damage may even be threatened by legal consequences. Business interruptions are ranked number one in the list of the world’s biggest risks, even after the Allianz Risk Barometer 2019 for the sixth consecutive year.

Through Business Continuity Management (BCM) and IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM), organizations ensure that business-critical processes can be largely maintained, even during operational disruptions, and that normal operations can be quickly restored. Continuity management thus makes a decisive contribution to increasing the resilience of an organization and is an integral part of appropriate risk management.

In the context of continuity management, an organization first determines from an economic point of view how critical and vulnerable its core activities are and what potential effects a business interruption can have. On this basis, a continuity strategy with appropriate structures, contingency plans and solutions is developed. The resulting processes, structures and competencies must be introduced into the organization and continuously adapted to changes in the internal or external environment. Training, training, tests and exercises are further integral parts of a continuity management.

We support you in all phases of continuity management and help you to prepare appropriately and specifically for business interruptions and crisis situations.

Business Continuity and IT Service Continuity Management Lifecycle:

Our offer is based on legal and regulatory requirements, national and international standards, best practices and the experience of our expert network. We always consider your individual and industry-specific requirements.

We not only support you in the development and implementation of continuity management, but also evaluate the current degree of maturity, identify further needs for action and recommend steps for continuous improvement. By linking the sometimes different requirements of information security, business continuity management, IT service continuity management and crisis management, we aim for a comprehensive concept against all types of disruptions and attacks. We also gladly support you in the selection and implementation of appropriate software solutions.

Tests & Exercises Regular tests and exercises are performed to review and improve continuity management. These range from theoretical exercises to simulations and full exercises. Depending on the participants and the exercise goal, scenarios of varying complexity and focus are used. The practicality of the recovery plans as well as the level of training of the affected employees are checked. The exercises and tests are documented and concrete improvement measures are derived in the corresponding reports.

A Business Impact Analysis (BIA) identifies critical business processes and allocates resources needed to maintain those processes. Defining the critical processes depends not only on the assessment of relevant risks, but also on the individual risk appetite of your company. The risk analysis (RA) identifies specific events that can lead to a failure of the processes.
